Foods for Improving Brain Memory

With the increasing popularity of personal computers, people become more and more dependent on computer and their own brain functions recede such as decreased memory. Some foods in daily life could promote the operation of brain, develop intellectual intelligence, and thus enhancing memory.

Milk : Milk is almost perfect for the brain, because it contains various amino acids required for brain and vitamin B1 which is beneficial to nerve cells. Drinking milk before going to bed is very conducive to sleep, which can relieve memory loss and other issues caused by insomnia.

Eggs : Studies have shown that brain activity and memory function are closely related with acetylcholine content in the brain. The egg yolk is rich in lecithin, and it can produce large amount of acetylcholine after decomposition and rapidly increase acetylcholine content in brain tissue, thereby protecting the brain and improve memory.

Fish : High quality protein and calcium are essential nutrients for the brain, and unsaturated fatty acids contained in freshwater fish could protect blood vessels and promote the development of brain cells.

Peanut : Peanut is rich in lecithin and cephalin, which are important materials to compose brain nerve system and they can improve blood circulation and slow brain function decline.

Garlic : Vitamin B1 is very useful for brain cells, and garlic can enhance that function. Garlic and vitamin B1 can produce garlic amine, whose functions are much stronger than vitamin B1.

Walnut and Sesame Seeds : Both of these two foods contain a lot of unsaturated fatty acids. So it could supply adequate linoleic acid, linolenic acid and other unsaturated fatty acid molecules to brain; it helps to clear the impurities in blood and improve brain function to enhance memory. Among them, the rich vitamins in walnut are very effective in the treatment of neurasthenia, insomnia and memory loss.

There are some tips for improving Memory :

  • People should not rely on computers too much and try to solve problems by themselves.
  • We should do exercise to stimulate the blood circulation of whole body and supply enough blood to brain.
  • We have to do some training to use your brain more frequently and effectively and improve your logic ability.

Meditation and Hypnosis

All mind relaxation techniques, despite the different names, are essentially the same. Meditation though, is supposedly limited to self/spiritual development.

Hypnosis can cure or aid in the cure of a great many ailments. Hypnosis can solve a great many personal problems. At the same time you are always awake, conscious and aware of what is happening - it is you who is in control and if you don't like something you can just open your eyes and say you will not do it (which of course will bring you out of the relaxed state). Forget the Hollywood-type hype that depicts people walking around like zombies under the control of some madman who merely has to look into a person's eyes in order to put them into an alleged hypnotic trance. This is pure mythical, dramatic garbage that has absolutely no basis in fact. Let's talk about truth. Exactly what is hypnosis, or more accurately, self-hypnosis (The hypnotist has no power over you at all and cannot make you do anything against your will. All hypnosis is really self-hypnosis. All the hypnotist does is guide you into a relaxed state, which you can easily learn to do yourself, if you wish. The hypnotist is a guide, not a master, and he or she does not have any special power or magic)? Self-hypnosis is a self-induced, altered state of mental consciousness that allows you to give constructive suggestions directly to your subconscious mind. More simply put, you cause your brain frequency to slow down to the range of seven to fourteen cycles per second. In that frequency range, your mind is highly susceptible to suggestions or instructions. By giving constructive suggestions to your subconscious mind, you can change your life for the better in many ways. Here are just a few examples of changes you can make with self-hypnosis : stop smoking, learn faster and more effectively, improve your self-image and self-esteem, improve your sexual performance, improve any skill, overcome pain, get rid of headaches, relax and overcome stress, stop bed-wetting, get rid of any bad habit such as nail biting, stuttering etc. The list goes on almost endlessly. You can even use self-hypnosis to experience past-life regression. Self hypnosis is a tool we can use to straighten out bad programming because it is a method of allowing ourselves to adjust our brain frequency to the subconscious area and then reprogram our mind with the information we want. Simply, we overlay the negative programming with positive programming, thus canceling out the negative programming. It works!

Learning and Memory Enhancer Was Discovered

A team of medical researchers from the University of Bristol have found the explanation for the interaction between brain state and the neural triggers responsible for learning.

This discovery
could open the way to new methods of strengthening cognitive functions in people suffering from debilitating diseases like Alzheimer’s, but also help improve memory in healthy individuals.

What makes this finding really exciting is the fact that the researchers from Bristol’s School of Physiology and Pharmacology, were able to study, in isolation, the exact neurotransmitter that enhances learning and memory – acetylcholine.
They studied the effects that drugs targeting acetylcholine receptors and SK channels have on the force of the connections between nerve cells in animal brain tissue.

They found out that administrating drugs that activate acetylcholine receptors or block SK channels, made changing the connection strength much easier, thus establishing a link between the two proteins.

Lead researcher Dr Jack Mellor, from the University of Bristol’s Medical School said that “from a therapeutic point of view, this study suggests that certain drugs that act on specific acetylcholine receptors may be highly attractive as potential treatments for cognitive disorders.

“Currently, the only effective treatments for patients with Alzheimer’s disease are drugs that boost the effectiveness of naturally released acetylcholine.

“We have shown that mimicking the effect of acetylcholine at specific receptors facilitates changes in the strength of connections between nerve cells.

“This could potentially be beneficial for patients suffering from Alzheimer’s disease or schizophrenia.”

During learning, acetylcholine is released in the brain where it boosts the capacity of acquiring new memories, by facilitating the activity of the NMDA receptors – proteins in charge of the strength of the connections between nerve cells, within the brain.

The researchers have shown that acetylcholine facilitates NMDA receptors by inhibiting other proteins called SK channels, which normally restrict NMDA receptors' activity.

They do so by preventing changes in the strength of nerve cells connections, weakening the brain's ability to encode memories.

Releasing acetylcholine removes the SK barrier, and enhances the brain’s capacity of learning and remembering information.

Still, Dr Mellor said that “these findings are not going to revolutionize the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of cognitive impairment overnight.

“However, national and international funding bodies have recently made research into aging and dementia a top priority so we expect many more advances in our understanding of the mechanisms underlying learning and memory in both health and disease.”

The researchers were affiliated to the
University of Bristol’s MRC Center for Synaptic Plasticity and the Division of Neuroscience in the School of Physiology & Pharmacology, part of the Bristol Neuroscience network, and their work was supported by the Wellcome Trust, MRC, BBSRC and GSK.

The results are described in the journal Neuron.
